A thriving community is
like a successful football team. Each member has a special job, yet each
helps the others with their jobs. Overall there is a captain who guides the
other players and is respected by them… and because of team play, the total
is greater than the sum of the individuals.
If you don’t believe it, look at a
bee hive, or an ant hill, or a pride of lions hunting together.
Among humans, there are
lots of communities; not all successful. Some are businesses, others
villages, hospitals, schools or countries. These downloads are to help you
build your team into a successful community. Good luck!

A special thanks for
help with this page goes to the British charity, TearFund. In addition to
their ‘Pillars Guides’ featured here, TearFund produces the development
Magazine Footsteps. Published quarterly, each issue concentrates on
a different aspect of community development, including Water, Health,
Education, Nutrition and a host of other topics. To see (and download) past
issues of Footsteps – and learn how to receive future issues - go to

At the same web address you will
find a series of books under the
‘Roots’ banner, to help development
workers. |
